El Salvador
The Central American colors are blue and white. El Salvador made the decision to revert back to the use of the flag of Central America in the year 1912, after a period of hoisted a flag similar to Old Glory on flag poles.
A number of elements from the arms of the United Provinces of Central America can be seen on the arms and include:
- the triangle with the volcanoes
- the Liberty cap and rainbow and
- the motto that was used on the civil ensign of the United Provinces.
It is now used on the civil ensign of El Salvador in gold letters.

Since the year 1972, and for some time, a flag without either arms or motto has been permitted, although it is not clear for what purpose. Today's flag does feature the arms and motto.
