The national flag of Anitgua and Barbuda was adopted of February 27th, 1967. The sun symbolizes the dawning of a new era. The colors have different meanings, the black is for the African ancestry of the people, the blue is for hope, and the red is for energy. The successive coloring of the yellow, blue and white (from the sun down) also stands for the sun, sea, and sand.
